Welcome back to the Friday Card Review! This week, I want to get vocal about one of my favorite creatures from Edge of Eternities: Starfield Vocalist.
Starfield Vocalist is a great ¾ for 4 that helps blink decks shine. It’s phrased in a way that is better than some other effects like it. You may think immediately of things like Panharmonicon. While both cards double enter the battlefield, or enter, effects, it’s notable that Panharmonicon and many cards like it only double the effects of specific permanents.
Starfield Vocalist, on the other hand, doubles it for ALL permanents. What’s the difference? Lemme break it down for you:
So both Panharmonicon and Starfield Vocalist double the lifegain trigger from Authority of the Consuls.
But only Starfield Vocalist doubles the trigger of an effect like Banishing Light, meaning you get to exile two permanents instead of one.
The icing on the cake is Starfield Vocalist’s warp ability, which lets you bring in the ability for only two mana if you need to get a quick doubling effect in for a turn. Plan on making a bunch of tokens for a turn to trigger your Impact Tremors? Warp in Starfield Vocalist to get your opponent singing the blues.
See you on Monday for a longer post and a special announcement!
