Welcome back to Friday Card Review! This week, I wanted to keep the doctor away with Eriette’s Tempting Apple.

Eriette’s Tempting Apple is already a non-blue alternative to cards like Reins of Power and Domineering Will. Typically, alternatives to these cards only allow you to take one creature for a turn, which is true in some respects. However, when reviewing a card, you need to open your mind to the possibilities.

As we take Bumi’s wise words into account, consider Eriette’s Tempting Apple in combination with the Naya Toph from the Avatar Set.

Toph allows us to turn lands into creatures and artifacts into lands. This means that Eriette’s Tempting Apple enters the battlefield, steals a creature, turns into a creature at the end step, and then you can sacrifice it to either gain life or drain an opponent, then the apple returns to the battlefield, allowing you to steal another creature.

This is why I likened Eriette’s Tempting Apple to Domineering Will and Reins of Power earlier. If you can reanimate the apple, which can fit in any deck by virtue of being colorless, then you can use it to borrow an attacker on your turn, or hold a creature hostage to keep it from being swung at you.

Thanks for reading and remember: we don’t have a post this upcoming Monday, so I’ll see you next Friday!
