Happy Friday! The Card Review for this week is Far Fortune, End Boss.
Far Fortune came to me three times in a row, so I decided to look at her. The first time was thinking about a replacement for my Mob Nixilis deck, which is a great commander for an impulse-draw / group-slug focused deck. The second time is when someone filled out the opinion form and said I should build a Speed deck. Far Fortune starts our engines, granting us access to the speed mechanic, so I wanted to show you how you could rev up your deck with her.
If we think about this like a Blue Lock Weapon, then we need to follow the formula:
Weapon: Ping Damage + Scenario: Opponents with Low-Life = Victory
So, we want to play cards that help us ping our opponents into a low life total so that we can optimize the damage we’re doing to finish people off. How can we do this?
Our Board State: We want to play cards that have evasive attacks to trigger Far Fortune to make sure we reach Max Speed, and we want to play cards that either burn or increase damage to make the most of the +1 to all damage.
Opponent Board State: We want our opponents to have fewer blockers so we can pull off attacks, but that doesn’t mean we have to remove them. While there are some great removal options in Rakdos, there are also great goad cards, which can help us bring our opponents to low life totals.
I’ll be building Far Fortune and sharing the decklist on Monday. See you then!
