Card Review 9-5-2025

This week, we’re going with a pick from a recent video I saw on Unpopular MTG: Demonmail Hauberk.

I think this card is a great free sacrifice engine that can work great with a lot of different strategies. The first strategy I thought of was a deck that has its creatures die frequently, like Henzie “Toolbox” Torre. Henzie blitzes creatures in, meaning they’ll get sacrificed on the end step anyway, and provide card draw when they die. Henzie decks tend to have creatures that have great death trigger effects and tend to have bigger bodies. Accelerating those death triggers with Demonmail and making those bodies even bigger in the process is excellent. Cards like Stalking Vengeance love Demonail Hauberk, because Stalking Vengeance tracks the power of the creature upon death, and you can sacrifice a creature currently equipped to the Demonmail to equip it to something else.

Another group of cards I thought of for Demonmail are all the Kamigawa dragons with death triggers. One of the most popular options is Atsushi, the Blazing Sky.
