Happy Friday! For this week’s card review, I’m bringing up an exemplary card: Knight Exemplar.
I’ve built about three successful Knight typal decks now, and Knight Exemplar is the perfect card in each of them. Not only does it provide an excellent keyword, Indestructible, but the fact that it also comes with First Strike takes it up a notch. Some knights, like Kwende, Pride of Femeref, synergize well with First Strike, and White has plenty of ways to share keywords among creatures. But what I think makes Knight Exemplar so excellent in Knight decks is the protection it provides the commander.
I began thinking about this because my friend Luis mentioned how an indestructible commander with a decent stat block can dissuade attacks equally as well as a Propaganda. So naturally, I fired up a search on Scryfall for cards that give Indestructible. Check it out here > > >
