Hi friend,
I’m so glad to be writing again. I took a break over the holidays to do some traveling and segue into a new job. I’m proud to say that I’m back on track in many respects, including posting to this blog.
But more changes are on the horizon. Now that I’ve been writing this blog for some time, I want to improve the quality of my writing and my understanding of magic. That focus will be reflected in my writing in the writing schedule moving forward:
Every week, on Fridays, I’ll be posting card reviews like normal! But this time, I want to include cards that readers find. You can also send card review suggestions to [email protected]
Every month, there will be two longer-form posts: a deck review and a conceptual post. The former is pretty straightforward, and what I mean by the latter is represented in the types of articles I first started writing, namely the Pilot Archetype series. I really enjoy that kind of writing, but as I research more about Magic, I keep finding new avenues that I want to talk about. Making space for both articles each month allows me to structure my thoughts over the course of the year.
A new post will come to Niv-Mizznt: Set Reviews. I’ll be reviewing sets closely after playing at a Pre-Release, so naturally these reviews will be somewhat limited. I find this is apt for the Limited Format.
I’m really excited for the future of this blog. I find that there are people I really respect who actually read it, and that kind of inspires me to refine the quality of what I’m producing.
For today’s card review, I just want to talk about something to fit the mood: Triumphant Reckoning
I think Triumphant Reckoning and the several cards like it are something that we need to play more in Commander. If your meta is pushing into the slower side of Commander, Triumphant Reckoning can help you quickly recover from a boardwipe just as well as providing a huge boost in value if you spend turns filling your graveyard with the appropriate permanents. Note that artifact and enchantment creatures are returned with this card, so playing a specific kind of deck is ideal.
I’ll see you next Friday. On the horizon, we have a card review, a deck review (in which I’ll review a deck I built that revolves around Triumphant Reckoning), and a conceptual post that will be a surprise. See you then!
